Hello, creative crocheter! Today, I’m excited to share a delightful summer project: Maddy the Jellyfish, a kawaii-style amigurumi that’s quick to make and full of charm.

If you’re a fan of amigurumi and love marine-themed creations, this tutorial will guide you through making a jellyfish amigurumi complete with eyes, a smile, and a bow, all in classic kawaii style.

- 50 gr TRE SFERE FIOCCO 100% cotton yarn, Fine weight (2), in:
- Lilac (7418)
- Peach (7271)
- A small amount of Black (7555)
- Crochet hook: 2,5 or 3 mm
- 10 mm safety eyes
- needle
- stitch marker
- Polyester stuffing

The final size you’ll reach is 7 cm if you use the suggested yarn.
Crochet Pattern: Jellyfish amigurumi
- MR = Magic Ring
- CH = Chain
- INC = Increase
- DEC = Decrease
- SC = Single Crochet
- HDC = Half Double Crochet
- DC = Double Crochet
- SL ST = Slip Stitch
- REP * = Repeat the instructions between the two asterisks (…) for the indicated number of times.
Note: The jellyfish amigurumi is worked in a continuous spiral. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the beginning of each round.
Step 1 – Body instruction
Use lilac yarn color and create a base circle of 30 SC.
- ROUND 1: MR, 6 SC(6)
- ROUND 2: 6 INC (12)
- ROUND 3: *1 SC, INC *; REP * 6 times (18)
- ROUND 4: 1 SC, INC, *2 SC, INC *; REP * 5 times, 1 SC (24)
- ROUND 5: *3 SC, INC *; REP * 6 times (30)
Cut the yarn and join it in the 4th round.
Chain 16, and starting from the 2nd CH from hook, work 1 SC in each chain.
When you reach the base of the circle, make 1 SC, then repeat the chain’s and SC along the entire chain to form 8 tentacles.
Step 2 – Jellyfish’s head instruction
Now make another base circle by repeating the same steps as the first one, and continue as follows:
- ROUND 6: 2 SC, INC, * 4 SC, INC *; REP * 5 times, 2 SC (36)
- ROUNDS 7-12: 1 SC in each stitch (36 stitches × 6 rounds)
- ROUND 13: 2 SC, DEC, * 4 SC, DEC *; REP * 5 times, 2 SC (30)
Add Safety Eyes and Embroider the Details
Before continuing, insert the safety eyes, leaving 5 stitches between them.
Next, embroider a smiling mouth and eyelashes next to the eyes.
1. Now join the tentacles to the head by working 1 SC all around.
2. Don’t close it completely—leave a small opening to add some stuffing.
3. Once the parts are joined together, decorate the edge with a round of Shell Stitch:
ROUND 14 – Shell Stitch Border: Ch 3, make 4 DC in the first stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 SC in the next stitch,
* 5 DC, skip 1 stitch, 1 SC in the next stitch *; REP * until the end of the round. (Watch the video for visual help)
At this point, your jellyfish is almost done!
Create a loop before moving on to the next part so you can hang your jellyfish wherever you like.

Crocheted Bow
ROW 1: Ch 16, make 1 hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook and in each chain across.
Form a loop by joining the ends with a SL ST (see the video).
Fasten off and leave a long tail.
Use this long tail to wrap around the center of the strip to shape the bow.
Use the same yarn to sew the cheeks just under the eyes, as shown in the tutorial video.
