Welcome to the new tutorial to create the amigurumi witch cat, perfect for decorating your home during Halloween!
In this tutorial, we will walk step by step through how to crochet the cat, customize its facial features, and make a witch hat with a cute spider hanging from the tip.
Materials Needed:
- Cotton amigurumi yarn (I recommend dark gray or black for the body, and purple for the hat)
- 2,5 mm crochet hook
- 6 mm safety eyes
- Tatting needle for embroidery details
- Synthetic stuffing
- Black and pink embroidery thread for facial details.

Helpful Tips before starting
Before you begin the amigurumi witch cat, I recommend following the instructions by watching the video tutorial, where I will guide you step by step through the creation of the witch cat.
Remember, the final size of your amigurumi may vary depending on the yarn and hook you use, but the proportions will remain the same.
If you prefer a larger or smaller cat, you can simply change the thickness of the yarn and hook to achieve your desired effect.

Insert the safety eyes between the 20th and 21st rounds, with a 3-stitch distance between each eye.
Embroider the nose, then insert some synthetic stuffing into the body before continuing.
Follow the video for instructions on embroidering the nose using pink or black thread, depending on your preference
- Round 22: * 3 SC, DEC*; REP * 6 times (24)
- Round 23: * 2 SC, DEC*; REP * 6 times (18)
Amigurumi Cat Ears
Resume working on the body and continue to form the ears.
- Round 24: 1 SC in each stitches around(18)
At this point, join two opposite and central stitches to form two upper holes, as shown in the photo below.

- First, work the left side, doing 9 SC, and mark the last stitch of this first circle with a stitch marker (WATCH TE VIDEO for clarity)
- Continue working another round of 9 SC.
- Now work 4 DEC and e 1 SL ST, in the next stitch to close the round.
Fasten off and hide the thread inside the work.
Rejoin the yarn at the point where you left the stitch marker on the body round, and work the other ear the same way as the left.
Using pink yarn, make small horizontal stitches in the center of the ears, as shown in the photo, or follow the video tutorial where I show you how to do it.

Amigurumi Cat Tail
For the tail, work a tubular piece, which will be sewn onto the back of the body.
This step is also explained in detail in the video.
You can use two different yarn colors. For example, I used a darker gray for the first rounds and switched to a lighter gray for the remaining rounds when I ran out of yarn.
- Make MR, 6 SC inside (6)
- Work lengthwise, making 6 SC each round, until you reach the size you want for the cat’s tail.
The tail made consists of 3 rounds in dark gray and 12 rounds in light gray.
Close the hole with SL ST without stuffing.
Next, sew the tail onto the back of the cat’s body, as shown in the photo below.

Witch Hat with Hanging Spider
The hat is the key element of your amigurumi witch cat!
We’ll start the hat from the tip. Don’t forget to add the hanging spider at the tip for that perfect Halloween touch!
- Round 1: MR, 4 SC (4)
- Rounds 2-3: 4 SC (4×2)
- Round 3: 4 INC (8)
- Rounds 4-6: 8 SC (8×3)
- Round 7: *1 SC, INC *; REP * 4 times (12)
- Round 8: 12 SC (12)
- Round 9: *2 SC, INC *; REP* 4 times (16)
- Round 10: 16 SC (16)
- Round 11: * 3 SC, INC *; REP * 4 times (20)
- Round 12: 20 SC (20)
- Round 13: * 4 SC, INC *; REP * 4 times (24)
- Round 14-17: 24 SC (24×4)
- Round 18: 24 INC (48)
- Round 19-21: 48 SC (48×3)
Crab stitch for Finishing the Hat
Once the hat is complete, use the crab stitch to create an elegant and well-defined finish.
In the video, I’ll show you how to work this decorative stitch along the edge of the hat.
