Do you want to know how to crochet a Christmas tree decoration?
I’ll tell you in this post.
A few years ago I received from my friend a beautiful Thun Christmas Tree to hang.

Looking at its shape and details, I try to crochet something similar and now I show you how to create it.
- Working time: 30 minutes
- Skill level: 🌸easy
- Category: christmas decoration
Work in row to make the tree and start each row with 1 turning chain.

If you want you can use another kind of yarn and crochet hook.
Start with 2 CHs and then follow the table down here.
ROW | INSTRUCTIONS | TOT |
---|---|---|
1 | Work 1 INC in the 2nd CH from hook | 2 |
2 | 1 turning CH, 2 INC | 4 |
3 | 1 turning CH. INC, 2 SC, INC | 6 |
4 | 1 turning CH. INC, 4 SC, INC | 8 |
5 | 1 turning CH. 1 SC in each stitches of the row | 8 |
6 | DO NOT MAKE A CH, turn only the work. Make 2 SL ST, 4 SC and skip the last 2 stitches | 4 |

17 | 1 turning CH. 4 SC, * INC, 1 SC*; REP * 3 times, 4 SC | 17 |
18 | 1 turning CH. 1 SC in each stitches of the row | 17 |
Finish with 1 SL ST in the next stitch, cut the yarn and fasten off.
Now repeat the instruction again to make a second one.

When you finish the second tree DO NOT CUT THE YARN.

Before joining the two trees, unwind some decorations in the center, hand embroidering a heart and a ball.
🧵 How to embroider a heart
To make the central decorations I chose to make a hand embroidery.
Below I will tell you how to embroider a heart and you will have to do more than one at work and according to your tastes.

- Use gold yarn and enter inside the work and pass the yarn from back to front. Point the needle two stitches up from where you entered and two stitches to the right.
- Make 3 or 4 passagges of thread, back and forth in the same place so as to form one side of the heart.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 moving the needle two stitches to the right from the starting point to unwind the other side of the heart.

🧵 How to make a french knot
With the same thread used to make the heart, continue to carry out other decorations, such as, for example, the French knot representing the Christmas tree balls.

- Use gold yarn and enter inside the work and pass the yarn from back to front. Make 2 turns of thread on the needle.
- Pass the needle alongside the starting point
- Pull the thread behind the work.
- This will form a decorative knot on the front of the work.

To have more clarity in carrying out the embroidery of the heart and the French knot, I invite you to watch the video tutorial that you find below.

Let’s now pass to the union of the two decorated trees.
To join the two parts together, work a single crochet all around with the white yarn.
If you want, you can add some stuffing, to make the tree thickness and I recommend you do this when you are working on the base.
Pay attention that the threads hidden inside it are not pulled, to the point of making the knots done at work disappear inside it.
I remind you of this detail, because it happened to me! 😅

On the next round, work a single crochet in each stitch, but this time with gold yarn.
Finally, work the last round, working the front post single crochet, which creates a thick border around the tree.
During the final round, pay attention to unwind the 20 chains on the tip, to form a buttonhole that you will need to hang the finished work on the branch of your Christmas tree.
The decoration is finished! Now make it your own and share your result with #PINKYCHRISTMASTIME hashtag! Don’t forget to tag me with @giuliapinkytime, so that I can see your photo!
