Handmade Easter decorations have a unique charm, especially when made with delicate yarns and soft pastel colors. In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to create crochet Easter eggs on polystyrene, using variegated cotton yarn in beautiful pastel shades.
This is a quick and relaxing project, perfect even for those who already have basic crochet skills and want to create something simple yet elegant. Thanks to the color transitions in the yarn, each egg will look different and unique—without the need for complicated stitches.
Crochet Easter eggs on polystyrene are a perfect solution for creating elegant decorations in a short amount of time.
By using a foam egg base and covering it with variegated cotton yarn, you can achieve a soft and harmonious look, ideal for spring decor. In this tutorial, I’ll guide you step by step on how to cover small foam eggs and achieve a clean, professional finish.

Useful information before starting
It only takes a short time to make a single crochet Easter egg, although the exact time will also depend on the size of your foam eggs.
Keep a stitch marker handy to mark the last stitch of each round, as the pattern is worked in continuous rounds (spirals).
This pattern is divided into two parts: you can either follow it to create a complete Easter egg or simply learn the technique to cover foam eggs with crochet.
The Oro Mondial Mignon mini skeins were originally included in a magazine, so they are not available in that small size.
However, you can find this yarn in 50 g skeins, which will allow you to make more than 3 eggs (the maximum you can usually make with 20 g).
In the video tutorial, I show you how to make crochet Easter eggs using this yarn, but you can easily substitute it with another type, such as Fiocco cotton yarn, or any other thin, variegated cotton yarn.
