Useful information before starting

Work in continuous round, without closing each round with a slip stitch, and using a stitch marker to distinguish the rounds.

📗 Abbreviations & meanings (US terms)

  • MR = magic ring
  • CH = chain
  • SC = single crochet
  • SLST = slip stitch
  • INC = Increase, 2 SC in the same stitch
  • DEC = Decrease, 2 SC together
  • REP * = repeat from * to * until the end of the row

The final size of the turtle, with the same yarns I used, is 20 cm.

Hook the beige yarn in the 19th round 4 stitches before the last stitch worked. Work only in the omitted buttonhole (see video tutorial to understand better):

Assembly of parts

Sew the legs, tail and head.

The legs must be inserted inside the hole created by the 5 CHs, while the tail, in the hole formed by the 3 CHs. Finally, insert the head in the hole recreated by the 7 CHs.

Once the parts are fixed, you can stuff the body well and continue closing the circle.

291 SC, DEC *2 SC, DEC *; REP * 6 times, 1 SC21
30*1 SC, DEC*; REP * 7 times14
316 DEC, 1 SC7

Do 1 SL ST in the next stitch to secure the yarn and then cut it. Hide it in the mesh, inside the turtle.

To finish, sew the head into the hole by 7 CHs and you have completed the turtle.

Now you just have to embroider the muzzle of the turtle, to your liking, and I’d be happy to see your version!

I decided to insert plastic eyes on him and I made a sweet smile between the two eyes.
